Import Custom Geocoding is not available in Tableau Public. However, you can just blend between your two data sources, one for your postal code data and one for your main data set.
Would you mind helping me little more?
1. Main data set has the postal codes I want to map. They're all in the X0X0X0 format in one column.
2. Postal codes list has all the postal codes in one column (same format as above), latitude in another, longitude in a 3rd one, city in the 4th, province in the 5th.
Tableau recognizes the latitude and longitude in the 2nd set as text. I've tried changing the type to measure and it seems to recognize them as geographical coordinates. However, I don't understand how to link the Postal codes value from the main data set to both the latitude and longitude in the second.
I thought off linking the two postal codes fields together, but then the latitude and longitude are not recognize as such and I don't know how I would use it to do a map...?
Connect to both data sets. Use the Edit Relationships command to make sure the postal code fields in both tables connect. Put the postal code from the main data set on detail. Put the latitude and longitude fields from the secondary data set on rows and columns. That should give you a map.
It works! Thanks!
