Are there any specific error messages? What are you noticing that is causing "trouble."
I don't get any messages. The code just sits there when I update the site (my website).
John - Can you give us a little bit more to work with? There are multiple ways one can embed a Tableau visualization into a web page. Maybe you can post the code and/or explain how you embedded?
I'm also having a hard time pulling meaning out of "the code just sits there when I update the site". "Just sits there" - does that mean the code isn't executing at all? Is executing, but not doing what you think it should? "Update the site" - What does this mean? Are you updating source code? Hitting refresh in your browser (you mean to say browser instead of referring to your site?)
Sorry to annoy you with my imprecision. I am trying to embed a view in my company website. This is a Wordpress website, and I access it with Safari.
I published a workbook on Tableau public then copied the code to embed the view. I pasted that into my website, in edit mode, then updated the site (meaning that the changes I had made should be visible to viewers). But when I then opened my site, the code was visible, not the worksheet. OK?
Hey John -
As I recall, Wordpress doesn't like some of our embedding code.
First, I'd validate that things work outside of Wordpress by pasting the code into an empty HTML document:
YOUR STUFF GOES HERE
...save this off as an .html file on your desktop and open it in a browser. It works?
Assuming it does, take a look at this thread, it should solve your Wordpress-specific issue:
You can also use iframes (on self-hosted Wordpress sites, still not Wordpress.com as far as I know), here's a tutorial:
