One option is to compute the KPIs nightly and store them in a few tables, and use Tableau just to visualize the pre-computed figures.
Thanks for your response! Turns out, the measures are non-additive, so they must be computed at processing time. As part of the refresh process, we aggregate all of the additive components. The only way to achieve something like this would be to use a cube (which is meant for exactly this case). Alas, it's an enormous endeavor to do that at this point and even if they did go that route, it would take quite a well for it to be ready. Do you guys know of any other temporary strategies?

In this case maybe you need an intelligent brute force approach, in order to keep or even expand the current extract refresh window(s) timeframe.
I am thinking at some sort of database/disk accelerator software, i will drop you an email in this regard.
