Teradata query with Common Table Expression not working

    Eric Lord

I'm trying to create a data connection to Teradata using a query which contains a Common Table Expression.  I have confirmed that this works in Teradata SQL Assistant using both .NET and ODBC drivers but it doesn't work when I paste the query into Tableau.

      The Error:

[Teradata][ODBC Teradata Driver][Teradata Database] Syntax error, expected something like a name or a Unicode delimited identifier or a 'SELECT' keyword or '(' or a 'NONTEMPORAL'

Unable to connect to the server "MyTeradataServer". Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database.

Apparently, it is complaining because the query string begins with a word other than "SELECT".  Ideas?
