Hey Carl, it depends on the level of complexity, but to hire a competent professional Tableau developer/consultant with experience, you're looking at anywhere from $75-300/hr. I'd be happy to learn more about your specific use case and see if I can lend some more insight into your situation. Feel free to shoot me an email @ Jack.Hoyt@delvepartners.com and we can setup some time to talk.
I am currently working virtually from the Washington DC area for a client in Tampa, FL doing their data integration and Tableau development. I'd be happy to talk to you regarding your situation. You can reach me at email@example.com.
Low $125 max $300 average around $175
Ha! John I think you've got the high figured, but I've seen lows ranging from $3.25 to $12.00 an hour coming out of India.
Well, I don’t do india.. but you get what you pay for..
This is an old thread. But since it still pops up in google 1st page results ...
you get what you pay for is valid when all other variables are fixed. India's cost structure is different. In Austin, TX you need $60k annual after tax to have a decent living. You need $20k to maintain the same in India. The cost structure is 1/3rd
I agree that $3- $12/hr is probably not going to result in skilled work. But you sure can get equally skilled work for closer to $35/hr from India. Maybe some agency can one day pit a $100 US consultant against one of the $35 ones from India and really do a fact comparison.
"your mileage may vary" is the best tag here.
Most freelancers and consulting companies have an amount they would like to get paid and that could be negotiable based on project length and other requirements.
I've worked with a few of those $100/day offshore contractors and the quality of work just isn't there. Usually, they don't have extensive Tableau experience and no knowledge of best practices relating to data viz.
My current daily rate is something I'm very comfortable with, but a lot of my "Tableau work" this year has been data modelling and Alteryx work to get the data in the right format for use in Tableau.
I also know plenty of freelancers and consulting companies that have a higher daily rate than mine, and they have plenty of work as well.
Obviously in India the cost of living is less, but even comparing Sydney rates to other Sydney rates it varies a lot - in rates as well as experience.
