We are running a UAT Server v8 on a VM, production is still on v7. The v8 does feel noticeably slower, but my IT tells me that the UAT VM server is not as beefed up as the production one (also VM). But I don't remember noticing big difference between production and UAT when UAT was on v7.
So I'll have to wait till we migrate production to v8 to see if there are any perceptible differences.
Most things are at least 50% faster on 8 in our virtual environment. We have a 16 core high availability setup with a SAN.
Would you tell about your VM(s) configuration running the TS:
> the number vCPU
> the number of RAM
> the number of each Tableau server process you assign at running VM.
