We do have a bug right now that we are working on related to this. It has to do with special ASCII characters (less than 32 and greater than or equal to 128). Check to see if those are in the viz you are creating. Also, if you're comfortable attaching your twbx, we could test it here to make sure it works with the fix.
Thank you a lot for your quickly response.
I tried to modify my .twbx but, I have a lot of special ASCII characters. My data are in french, thus there are a lot of : é, è, ê, û, ...
The problem concern all data (created, in database) or only the data which are "created" (title, etc.) ?
The problem is linked to Tableau Destop (data which are published) or to Tableau Server (bad interpretation) ?
I can send you personally the workbook for the test but I can't send it via the forum.
I tried other thing and the error doesn't appear.
The problem, in my opinion, is not linked with special ASCII characters.
My workbook is composed by 6 dashboards and using 3 datasources (extracts) not linked between them. I have cut my workbook in 6 workbooks, each workbook contained a dashboard and the error didn't appeared.
Is it a linked with the different data sources filters (each dashboard have its own filters even if they are based on the same extracts) ?
Yes, we are seeing a few cases of this that are not specifically linked to ASCII characters. Can you send the workbook to email@example.com. We are actively investigating these issues right now.
I have the same issue when connecting from an iPad, regardless of browser (Safari or Chrome).
- Tableau Server 8.0.0
- Tableau Desktop 8.0.0
- Single Data Source (SQL query)
- Single Workbook with 5 Dashboards
I have understood that there is an error with the 8 version. For me, the problem appeared only for the 8.0.1 version of Tableau Server. I have the 8.0.0 but the error didn't appeared.
Currently, Tableau works on the problem and a fix will be integrated in a future version.
You can try cut you workbook in 5 workbooks. Each workbook containing one dashboard. In this case, the error don't appeared for me. It's a "bypass" pending the correction.
I hope this help you.
I am getting the same error message.
I now have this error as well. Have tried rebooting Tableau server, and updating to 8.0.2 on both my Desktop version as well as the Server version as of this morning. Some views publish just fine, yet others from the same data source don't. Very frustrating! Anyone got a fix??
REbooting the server fixed the issue for me but then went I went to use the problematic dashboard again it caused the same error message to return. I worked with someone in my computer operations peak to monitor the performance of the server when I was trying to work with the problematic dashboard and we discovered that the CPU was getting maxed out. We increased the CPU and are not experiencing issues anymore.
I am also getting this error on 8.0.2 for workbooks that worked fine on 8.0, republishing fixes for ~15 min. Sounds like this warrants a patch.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the suggestion Tracy. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have helped in my case. Tried Chrome, Firefox and IE.
Edited to add: Also had IT check performance logs for the server after Katherine's note and things were pretty quite. CPU not getting over 40% use, so there's got to be another issue.
Are there any known work arounds for this? This is blocking a deployment of a production system for us -- any suggestion will help.
