Adjust the forecast Amount based on how much was delivered the previous day

Hey Tab Gurus

I have a simple yet effective requirement. I have a Column that records the amount ordered to be delivered and the forecast of that order. Now in real life, you do not deliver exactly what was forecasted and hence the forecast for the remaining days change. I would like to ask if someone can come up with a calculated field that does that for me. Also, Can i know how I can have a filter that defaults to the current date everytime the user logs in the morning to check his forecast for the day and week.

PFA the Excel Sheet. The first sheet is the ideal scenario and the second is a sample of the actual recorded data and the 'Forecast for the day' is the desired field.

Hope its clear and some of you may shine light onto this question

Thanks

Siddharth, quick question:

Cell C17 has this formula: =(C18-SUM(D2:D16))/COUNT(A17:A17)

COUNT(A17:A17) returns 1, so you're dividing by 1. Should this be something else? Maybe COUNT(A1:A17)?

Hey Shawn

That formula basically indicates that I want the remaining forecast amount to be divided by the number of days remaining for the order to be delivered. In the case with cell C17, as that is the last date for that order to be completed, the remaining order amount needs to be delivered on that day. So for example for cell C16, it will be divided by 2 as 2 days are remaining and the order can be delivered equally on both the days.

(Total Forecast = Total Initial ordered by the end of the period) (1,600,000 = 1,600,000)

Hope this is clear

Thanks

Hey Shawn

Just checking if you were able to get a solution by any chance. Let me know if am not being clear enough

Thanks

Nope, I worked on it, but these sorts of Tableau Calcs are just not in my skill set. Fairly certain Joshua Milligan or others could do it faster than me poking around in the dark.

Hey Guys

If it helps, please see an attached Tableau file that will help you guys work on it quicker.

(Just cause the gurus love their packaged workbooks to work with)
