Are you using Tableau 8.0? If so, this can be done very easily. Put the dimension on the level of detail shelf (with nothing on the columns or rows shelf). The mark type should automatically go to Square, but if it does not, change it to this. Then, place the measure or other dimension on the color shelf. The labels can be added and placed on the view like so when the worksheet is placed on a dashboard--use a floating tile to place it on top like shown.
Yes, I'm using Tableau 8.0. Thank you for the helpful tips! I can get the squares to show up, but how do I get the 10x10 grid? I need to have the squares repeat on multiple rows. Was hoping to get 10 squares on each row.
In case anyone was looking for an example workbook on how to make these charts, you can find it here:
I came across this thread recently, and loved the chart!
I am now trying to incorporate this into a dashboard I'm working on presently.
Please see the data file attached. The first tab has the sample data, and the 2nd tab shows the calculation I wish to report.
I wish to create three waffle charts and chart the % out of total for A, B, and C. A,B,C belong to one dimension (Media).
I would also want to add the market filter, so that the charts change dynamically based on the market chosen.
