I'd look at two things:
- Are the SQL Server drivers on both machines the same version? If not, download and install the latest/greatest version from http://www.tableausoftware.com/drivers
- Are the versions of Tableau Desktop the same (not just 7, but 7.XXX) on both machines? Download version 7.014 and install it on the "bad" machine.
