Thanks for sharing. I have been watching out for a positive feedback about Tableau Server 8, and count your as the most positive to date of the few available. There is little feedback about upgrades to Tableau Server 8 as you see by going through the Installation, Upgrades & Configuration threads.
Maybe some of the participants inMigrate Workbooks from Tableau 7 to Tableau 8 Version experienced a successful upgrade. They were Toby Erkson, Siraj Alimohamed, Jeff Ferris, Justyn Attwool, P K, and I.
I don't count our upgrade successful, because dashboards in general seem to run slower than they did in 7 (and Desktop 8) plus at least two dysfunctional workbooks. I have yet to contact technical support about our issues and is it therefore too early to say if this a locale problem, bug, or just Server 8 in general not performing that well. Hopefully their assistance will debug the dysfunctional workbooks and adjust some of our settings with the effect that Server 8 will run faster than Server 7 did.
I agree with you that muddy text on screen and PDF are serious issues.
The act of upgrading was successful but we have a couple workbooks (including admin views in the Maintenance area) where the server basically acts like it has narcolepsy - it just sits there with the spinning circle icon for-ever (like, EVER!). So I wouldn't call our install 100% successful.
8.0.1 was recently released which has a number of fixes--https://www.tableausoftware.com/support/releases

Please help us continue to catch and fix any problems you see by sending in a support request with as much information to email@example.com. This helps us to investigate and log the issues with our engineers so that they can be fixed asap. Thanks!
Thanks Tracy, subscribed.
We held off on upgrading for a while. After testing on 8.0.3, we are now planning to upgrade later in the month.
Any new feedback from others who are running Tableau Server 8.0.3 - good, bad?
