Have a look in Maintenance -> Background Tasks. This will tell you if there were any errors refreshing the view.
If no errors, then a possible issue could be that there was no new data, so the view looks the same.
This is the error it is displaying "com.tableausoftware.nativeapi.dll.DataSourceException: Microsoft JET database error 0x80004005: ODBC--connection to 'Oracle_Views' failed
Edit: One more thing to note is that the Access file that is being used for the extract is located on a shared drive separate from where Tableau Server is located.
I'd say that server machine doesn't have access to that shared location where the Access file is.
Can you or our administrator try to directly open that Access file from the server machine? If that works, then the problem is likely with the connection.
The reference to "Oracle Views" is kind of interesting, too. Are you doing something in that Access database like linking out to an Oracle database? In that case, the Run As use for Tableau will not only need:
- Physical access to the Access database (Tip 'o the hat to Dimitri)
- ...but access to the location to the Oracle drivers and config information like the tnsnames.ora file
I have several linked tables that link out to "Oracle_Views" which is a SQL server . OK the server is running on a 64-bit environment and running 32-bit office apparently. It is getting changed to 64-bit and hopefully it resolves this issue. Ill update this post once I find out if it solves the problem.
Noel, I'm having a similar issue. Did you ever get this resolved?
