You may need to use a valid email address if it is a custom email address that is being applied to the site for the subscriptions.
I am also facing an issue with subscriptions in Tableau Server 8. There is an error message in the "Background Tasks" log stating that the "SMTP Host is Unreachable."
Can u please advice on to the same.
I'm having the same issue. My subscriptions are not working but my alerts are (when the services start and stop) which to me means the SMTP authentication settings are just fine.
Are you still experiencing the issue?
I am having "Can't send command to SMTP Host" error.
From online help below, it mentioned that the SMTP server is using encrypted (SSL) sessions.
But my problem is our SMTP server is not SSL encrypted.. any idea?
Subscriptions not Arriving ("Error sending email. Can't send command to SMTP host.")
You may see the above error in Windows Event Viewer if subscriptions appear to be sent (according to the Background Tasks admin view), yet subscriptions aren't arriving, and your SMTP server is using encrypted (SSL) sessions. Subscriptions are only supported for unencrypted SMTP connections. The solution is to use an unencrypted SMTP server.
I recently fixed this issue. It was a two part fix...
1st if you are using a proxy you have to make sure you have selected to bypass local address and i also added my cluster members by their IP.
2nd I had to provide a login for the SMTP (I used the service account)
Hope this helps
Is there any fix available for this SMTP issue. I am also having the same issue.
