Thanks for your response. I guess that's what my issue is.. I don't really know where to being or if Tableau is even a good tool for what I need to do.
Basically I have two excel files with the same structure and need to know what is missing in one that is in the other and vice versa. I thought the combined set feature may allow me to isolate these line items. Is this possible?
Why not just combine the two worksheets? You can do this in Excel itself, or use a UNION statement to tell Tableau to essentially "stack" one worksheet on top of another:
Have you tried going up to data in the menu bar, then clicking on edit relationships? That should get you to a dialogue box where you can click on custom, and then click the add button. It should let you add the data that matches up that way. I hope that ends up being helpful.
