Hi Krish -
No. Annotations are still Desktop only. In general, actions which require a right-click or cause a second dialog to open are not supported in Web Authoring.
Thanks chris for the reply.
We expected that end users can annotate in tableau server 8 , that's bad news for end users then
Any idea whether tableau team is going to add this feature in next release ?
Hey Krish -
My read on web authoring functionality is that the product team applied the 80/20 rule: What will 80% of our users need to do in a Web Authoring environment when it comes to basic modification of a viz:
- Add/Remove fields
- Rearrange fields
- Add/Remove filters
- Change viz types
....and so on
In my experience annotations fall into the 20% of features that aren't used as often. Maybe your users utilize them quite a bit, but I see annotations as a "nice to have" vs. a "must have" for most of the folks I work with ....but I could be wrong! Maybe my customers aren't normal
My advice would be to add an idea to the "Ideas" forum. Let votes (or lack of them) help inform the product team on whether this is needed in the product.
Hope this helps a little.
My users wants to annotate on the view. I think most of the customers might need this feature.Tableau must have added this annotate feature also in tableau server 8. Actually we told them that in tableau 8 they can annotate .
I will post this in ideas section
There's always comments.
None of my customers need such functionality.
But annotation will be more helpful right for the user where they can annotate at the exact position on the view
