Unable to connect to PowerPivot Data Source

    Brad Llewellyn

When I attempt to connect to a PowerPivot data source via a local Excel file, I get the following error:

The drivers necessary to connect to this database server are not properly installed.  Visit http://www.tableausoftware.com/drivers to download driver setup files.

It appears that you don't have Tableau PowerPivot Add-In (Excel Add-In) installed. Please install Tableau PowerPivot Add-In and try again.

Unable to connect to the server. Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database.

So, I went to the drivers section of the website to download the driver.  I downloaded pretty much every driver that says PowerPivot, including all of the recommended ones, and I still get this error.

Am I missing the secret handshake?

I am using Windows 7 and Tableau 7.0.9

      Thanks,
