# How to fix the color of a calculated field?

I have this problem: I have a simple table that it has a calculated field which created a dimension with 2 levels: "+X minutes" and "-X minutes", where X is dynamically calculated with a SQL RAW formula. My problem is that I'm coloring the table  using this dimension. The problem is that X is changing across the day, then the colors in the table changes ("+X minutes" sometimes is red, other times is green, etc). My question is :

How do I do that the table's color doesn't change when X is changing?

Thanks!

Hi Alvaro,

Are you able to provide an example workbook or even a screenshot showing the fields in the view?

I suspect this is because you are using measure names/values to build the table? When that happens, the colour scheme applies to all measures on the same row.

However, this may not be your setup, so if you could provide a screenshot, that would be great (a picture tells a thousand words and all that)

Hello Andrew,

This is the table: The calculated field is the one that gives as result "-174 minutes" and "174 minutes". When the number 174 changes, the colour scheme changes.

Thanks Alvaro,

The reason is because each unique value of a dimension gets a different colour, so as the number changes, the colour it matches will too. The simple way to change this is to have a calculated field like this:

IIF(LEFT([New Video_Status],1)="-","Negative",IIF(LEFT([New Video_Status],1)="+","Positive","Created"))

Then use that on the colour shelf. The colours won't change then.
