# Compute difference between two columns at row level

Below is the data

C1     C2     C3     C4

V1     V2     999     99

F1     F2     888     88

I want C5 as C3- C4 so the result is

C1     C2     C3     C4     C5

V1     V2     999     99     900

F1     F2     888     88     800

My sincere appologies if this is too basic. I am new to Tableau.

Are the columns Measures or a Dimension? i.e. are C3 and C4 2 different measures in your measures list?

I have an almost identical question to bhanu v.  How would a variance be calculated if these are one measure being shown.  The columns would represent a time series, rows would represent employees, with values being sales figures.

Example:

C3 - January 2013

C4 - February 2013

C5 would be sales growth/decline from February to January.

What would be the best way to calculate C5?

Thanks!
