Can't you just select shape and drop the (discrete) field with 0/1 on the shape shelf? From the shape window, select edit shape and select a palette such as KPI. It's also easy to add your own custom palette if you want different or additional shapes.

If I understand your problem, then I think the best solution is to reshape the data in Excel so that you have just two three columns,
- value (0, 1)
Tableau has an Excel plugin that makes this easy. See the knowledge base article (particularly the part about half way down, "Make sure each row contains only one iece of data")
As Jim has suggested, reshaping the data such that dates are placed in one field instead of a single field for each date is likely needed. However, if reshaping won't work in your case, perhaps you could provide a sample of your data instead of just the field names; this would allow folks to give you specifics on how to address the issue as they will be working within the dataset and format you are using.
I notice that there's a red exclamation next to the T/F Profit>0. This indicates an error of some kind. If you edit the calculated field, information is displayed regarding the error. What error are you receiving?
I'd recommend reshaping the Excel file.
1. Get the Tableau plugin (http://kb.tableausoftware.com/articles/knowledgebase/addin-reshaping-data-excel)
2. Open your Excel file, put the cursor in cell B2.
3. If the Tableau plugin is enabled, you should see Tableau in the menu bar (next to View). Click on this and choose reshape data.
4. Rename column 3 and 4 to "Date" and "Value"
The result should look like "sheet1-Tableau" in the attached xlsx.
Now it's easy to get the check boxes in Tableau. Put date on the column shelf (select "Exact Date" on the pill to show all dates). Put Period on the rows. Select "shape" for mark type. Put Value on the shape shelf. The default will be a square and circle. Click on the pull-down menu in the shape legend and choose "edit shape" and choose KPI.
Thanks a lot Jim . Top answer and great solution to shape excel files to display data in tableau.
Simply Superb !!!
