Connection Error: Microsoft SQL Server on Tableau Server

    Mikhail Venkov

I've created a report that connects to a microsoft sql server. The connection requires user name and password which is different from windows or active directory password. The report work just fine on my desktop. When I publish this report to the server, it gives me an error:

"Database error 0x80004005: [dbnetflib][ConnectionOpen (Invalid Instance()).]Invalid connection. Unable to connect to the server x.x.x.x Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database"

Anybody run into something similar? All the firewall rules should be set up on the tableau server to access SQL server. I suspect it doesn't embed the password and username and instead uses active directory. However I don't know how to change that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
