You can put tableau into powerpoint (this is what you need the URL for): http://kb.tableausoftware.com/articles/knowledgebase/embed-live-views-powerpoint
or I guess you can place powerpoint in Tableau using something like Windows live - which are you trying to do?
Here's a couple of links from Andy Kriebel's blog:
Embedding Tableau Dashboard in PowerPoint
Embedding PowerPoint in Tableau Dashboard
To embed a Power Point presentation in Tableau Dashboard is it that we need to upload our ppt on some server and then copy the web link.
cant we give our local system path.
You can use your local system path so long as the Tableau Server application can see that path. In my environment, the Tableau Server can't see "X:\foo\bar.ppt", but it can see \\is3\server\foo\bar.ppt. That's one piece. The other piece is that you need a full URL, so the actual URL will be something like file:///is3/server/foo/bar.ppt. Finally, I've also had some strange results on different machines that I believe are due to different versions of web browser and plug-ins. Sometimes the linked file will open within the web page object, sometimes there's just a file link for the user to open.
I have ppt document saved in share point and need to embed it into Tableau report. When the Tableau report is opened/ refreshed the ppt should load a page from ppt (eg. page 4). Is it possible to achieve?
