Hey Mark - I was able to find this blog post and it might help. I'd check with Tableau though as one of the commenters mentions that if you use cloud hosting that they won't support it. Not sure thought...
Thanks Andrew. I had read that same post; I had initially tried to set-up a trial version of server using one of the free small instances on EC2. I was able to get it installed without any trouble but found that it didn't have enough power to run effectively. I did hear from folks at Tableau and will be having a call with them on Monday.
This is definitely possible. We have done it. It can be a little complicated with regard to active directory but with the right service provider (not every one will work through it with you) it can be done.

You'll want to use a 'large' EC2 instance running Windows Server at least. I've done this for several clients with success. Let me know if you want more info.
There is now a hosting service based in Australia offering full Tableau Server hosting for $5,500 pa. Looks like you get 2 user accounts, and have additional permission control to be able to share individual workbooks with clients...
