Chrisitian, thanks for search the forums before posting. We appreciate the effort. There's nothing really wrong with your calculation (the "= 'true'" is unnecessary CONTAINS() is already boolean), but it should work fine. It would be best to post a packaged workbook so we can see what's causing the difference. Having said that, go to Analysis and un-check 'Aggregate Measures'. Now total your calculation. Does it equal the Excel spreadsheet?
thanks for the quick reply! Unfortunately, I can't post any data as particularly the 'inquiry' field contains sensitive personal information.
When I uncheck 'Aggregate Measures' I only get my two values ('1' and '0'), but no count.
I left the '=true' out and got the same number as before. When I check the underlying data, records like for example "MSL Line - Requests new form." are being numbered as "pregnan".
Some 'inquiry' fields contain a lot of text (up to 1500 characters), could that matter?
Again, thanks a lot for your help!
As this is coming from Excel, the driver used to grab the data is truncating your text fields at 255 characters...You could try putting it in a database or perhaps using custom SQL to get a count (http://www.devguru.com/technologies/jetsql/quickref/like.html).
I also believe that CONTAINS is case sensitive, so you may want to do CONTAINS(lowercase([your field]),"text to match").
thanks a lot for your help, and sorry for the late reply, I was pulled temporarily to a different project.
Your answer was very helpful!
