    Filters slow down performance...

      Hi everyone,

I'm new to Tableau and I am developing our first set of reports on it.

One thing I'm noticing is that the more filters I put on the report, the slower it gets.  I think I have a bout 10-15 columns that people want to have the quick-filters available to slice & dice the data.  It seems that without the filters, the report runs in like 5 seconds (report is hitting an extract) but each time I add a filter the execution time goes to up by about 10-20 seconds.

Is this expected behavior?  Is there a way to get around this?

It is a little counter intuitive to me since I assumed filtering data to smaller data sets should run faster than looking at the whole data set.  But it's actually much slower.

      Thanks!.
