It depends on your database capabilities, specifically the data type of the field.
One option that I know works is PostgreSQL with a text data type.
Also, how did the data get from Excel to SQL - could the JET engine possibly still have been used?
I used the export option inside of SQL Server Management Studio.
I'm no SQL user, let alone expert, I just heard that using a SQL database could allow for text lengths greater than 255 characters, so I downloaded SQL Express and somehow figured a way to bring in my data from Excel.
After Joe's reply, I went in and managed to run a query that allowed the column to go from 255 characters to 4000...
It didn't work!
How did you 'figure out a way to import it'?
Did you reimport after changing the column type?
