I just did a quick search into past cases, and was unable to find anything in regards to this error. Do you have the correct driver installed as found here:
You do not need to set up a DSN of any kind in order for Tableau to connect to a first-class data source such as Cloudera Hadoop Hive. Cloudera has confirmed that this step is unnecessary and they are working to update their documentation (confirmed in this conversation thread: https://twitter.com/TableauDataNerd/status/264580024693313538 )
Once you have the Cloudera Hive ODBC driver installed you do not have to configure anything on your client machine, simply launch Tableau and connect using the Tableau connection dialog for Cloudera Hadoop Hive. Of course the server you specify must be running the Hive service, as described in the second KB article you linked (Administering Hadoop Hive).
I hope this helps,
I used that link to the Cloudera website and downloaded the drivers. Following the documentation on Cloudera's site, I found the ODBC connection manager in the control panel, attempted to add the DSN System File and that's where I get the 127 error.
My partner in crime is going to reach back to Cloudera and see if they have any ideas; I'll let you know if we figure it out.
