# Table calc pane(down) not working - what am I doing wrong?

Can anyone tell me why certain things aren't working for me?

Attached you will find a packaged workbook.

I'm trying to see the percent of total by stage.  Whether I modify the calculation to be by pane(down) or stage or stagetext -- makes no different, it doesn't work.  I just keep getting 100% of total, unless I tell it to do it for the entire table.  Why is that?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi Chris,

To restate what you're after, you would like each line in this table to have "access" to the grand total of 3,193,414? If so, then you can just utilize the TOTAL( agg() ) table calculation (which as I understand is like a table calculation that always uses the whole table as the partition).  See the attached with a new [Total] field and a [Percent of Total 2]. Let me know if that's not what you're after.

Cheers

Heh... after looking through a bit more, it occurred to me that that is pretty much what you already had... The only thing you were missing is that you needed to have your Percent of Total table calculation compute using Table Down (or to use the Advanced option, Compute Using: stage, stagetext, statustext, and status).

No, what I'm looking for is a percent of total per stage.  Not all the way down the table.  That part seems to be working fine.  So, for stage 300, for example, I want to see the percentage of each status within stage 300.

thanks!

I know what the problem is - but I don't know that it should matter.

If I take out either stage or stagetext AND either status or statustext, it works!

It's like even though the stage and stagetext have a 1:1 relationship (as does the status and statustext), it throws off the ability to do the calculation per pane...
