I'm sure this must have been asked dozens of times before, but I couldn't find such a question in the forums:
When you have 3 columns on the Row shelf, the defaul behavior is that the left most columns group sort the data instead of repeating the same value on each row.
When I export such a report to excel, it naturally merges those cells, forcing me to unmerge and populate them manually. Is there a technique to change this behavior in Tableau such that the table does not "group sort" results, but instead repeats values on each row?
If your end goal is Excel, you can select all, view data, and copy the summary out. You could also create a set for the first two columns, add this to the view as the first pill, then hide it (right click pill, uncheck show header). Then the crosstab will work.
Honestly the first method is easiest depending on whether you have anything in rows.
