Show top 5 items, aggregate the rest under "Other"

I want to show a list of the top 5 items in a dimension, ranked by some measure.  Rather than filter out the rest of the items in the dimensions (e.g. the 6 to N ranked items) I want to aggregate them under a single dimension name called "Other".  Similar results can be obtained through grouping, but grouping does not dynamically update if new dimension results are introduced or if the rank changes.  What I'm trying to do is use the index() function to rank the dimension by the relevant measure, and sum all items larger than 5.  So far I've gotten pretty close, but every time i put the data into a table, I get overlapping text.  Does anyone know how to deal with this?
