Hi Sidesh -
Tableau doesn't connect to Microstrategy reports directly and treat them as a source of data. I'd suggest you point Tableau directly at the data source(s) which the original MSTR metadata model is leveraging.
Thanks for the info..
When i start MicroStrategy, it connects to a Project which is Oracle using Servername, UserId, Pass n Port#, then i create reports using different pulling attributes - Product, Time, Measures, Metrics etc into Report layout... Its something similar to Crystal reports..
Is there anyway to connect that Oracle server into tableau.. May be like - link 3-4 tables from Oracle in Tableau.. built relation in them & then create report within Tableau... Thoughts??
fyi: I tried using Oracle database option under Tableau's connect data.. But it didn't work..
Absolutely - you can connect Tableau directly to Oracle just like you can do the same thing with Microstrategy.
Keep in mind that you need the Oracle Client installed on the same machine where Tableau Desktop is installed. You'll also need the Oracle TNSnames files completed.
Cool. Thnx much Russel for quick confirmation.. I'll try my hands on connecting Oracle directly & let you know the findings...

It is possible to create a direct connection! BI Connector now allows users to visualize MicroStrategy data with Tableau’s UI and combine it easily with other data sources. Here’s a quick video that shows the solution in action:
