# How do I make the label values a percentage of the whole in a pie chart? Note: I can't find the Quicktable calc in the drop down.

I pulled all my measure values into a pie chart. Right now it is displaying the full value, but I would like it to display as a percentage of the whole.

Marks: Pie

Label: Measure Values

Color: Measure Names

Angle: Measure Values

Help! thanks

That can be a bit tricky if you have Measure Values in label, as opposed to, say, Sales or Profit. Can you post a sample workbook?

Here's a sample workbook. I want the values to be percentages of the whole instead of a number.

Thanks!

With the data structured this way, the only option I can think of is to use calculated fields for each colour, to calculate % of total:

SUM([Blue])/(SUM([Blue])+SUM([Green])+SUM([Red])+SUM([Yellow]))

See attached workbook for a solution.

Alternatively, you can re-shape the data to have just one measure and have colour as a field, then there would be no need for extra calculations.

Hello Dimitri,

I am trying something similar to this. Can we put both the value as well as % of each slice of the pie chart in the tool tip ? Hope you have some solution for this.

Hi,

Have done what exactly you had required. For this have used custom sql technique to convert all the measure to dimension.

Attaching the same ...

Hello,

Not sure if this is what you wanted to do, but I wanted to show labels of a measure (number of records in my case) in the pie chart.

You can pull in a measure in the marks area. It will appear as SUM(Number of Records). Right click on it, go down in the menu to 'Quick Table Calculation' and select 'Percent of Total', You will notice there is a small triangle symbol on the right side of your mark. Now pull your mark to your Labels and you will see the percentage label on your pie chart!

You can clink on the label tab and edit the way you want to append the labels is you have more than 1 (like Sum of records, percentage of total).

Thanks,

Dikan
