that's what i thought as well. However, i forgot to give a few additional details, that i didn't think could influence this behavior, but may actually: this view is the result of data blending with those 2 measures being calculated measures calling actual measures from the secondary data source (to allow for use of the measure names/measure values, which is otherwise not available on the secondary source once you have started building your view out of dimensions from the main datasource).
It's a bit tricky for me to turn that workbook in a packaged one and send it, as it contains customer "sensitive" data.
I'll try to reproduce this view with similar yet not sensitive data and will share that with you.
actually, the blending has nothing to do with my issue, even with a single source the behavior is the same. I can't hide a single measure header once synchronized axis with multiple mark types.
Have a look at the attached view.

No we haven't migrated to the 7.0 family just yet and are still running on version 6.1.6.
Was that a new feature introduced with 7? i was pretty sure i had seen examples of views using dual axis with a single header, like you could obtain, even before 7 was released. But maybe i'm wrong...
This feature was added in 7.0.
