I think I have the same problem where I am able to created a calculated member which is a measure but when I try specifically to create a calculated member in the dimension hierarchy, it does not show up anywhere, no matter which part of the dimension tree I try to attach it to. Could it be a permission issue on the MSAS server side where I do not have enough rights to create a dimension-type calculated member?
Were you able to solve your problem?
Thanks to anybody who can help on this.
When I've created a calculated member (from within Tableau for example) and placed it on a non-Measures Dimension, I have only been able to view it from within the Filter for that particular dimension. Not within the Dimension pane itself.
Does this help?
Yes it does; I think I was mistaken about what it was supposed to be doing. Now I see the additional member in the list. However, a bit of documentation about which formula can go in there would be useful...
