This is currently a known issue that is being investigated by our engineering team. I apologize for any inconvenience it has caused you!
Hello! I am experiencing this issue as well (the 'time' portion of Data Update Time is ~8 hours into the future). Is this a configuration issue or is it still a known issue, as indicated above (as of July 18 2012)? Thanks -Trevor
I too experience the same issue. It is not a problem when using TODAY() or NOW() but the last update time is always exactly 5 hours in the future. Will a fix to this be included in 8.0?
When will someone from Tableau respond? Your last post on this topic was 8 months ago.
I am also having this issue and it is only affecting reports after they are published to Tableau Server. I opened a case about this and I'll update this thread when I get a reply in case the response is useful.
Still a problem I guess in 8.1. My data update time is 7 months into the future.
It is now Feb 2014. I wonder if it is a problem in 8.3
It looks like this issue was resolved in versions 8.2.1 and later of Tableau Server. Should you continue to see the behaviour in later versions please feel free to reply to this post, or contact Technical Support.
Upgrading Tableau Server instructions can be found here: Upgrading Tableau Server | Tableau Software.
We always like to recommend upgrading a test environment first, before upgrading any production environment. And, of course, take your backups!
Hope this helps,
I'm experiencing an issue with 'Data Update Time' used in titles. The Server and all settings on the instance are set to UK formatting (dd/mm/yyyy); all date fields and date parameters format correctly except for 'Data Update Time' which shows as 'mm/dd/yyyy'.
May be you are getting data from like that format.
Right click on
Database", click on "Database properties", Select Date Format. then define
the format which you want.

Is this still an issue ?
This is what I'm getting today :
(image cropped for client privacy reasons), but you can see that the top part of the image is Tableau Server - most extracts updated earlier today. I'm using the bottom extract in Desktop (bottom part of the image), but the date is in the future .... by 30days minus 1 hour.
VERY strange and impossible to use if we want a simple "data last updated" timestamp on the dashboard.
You can't format the Data Update Time by using date formatting
I have also found that due to daylight saving in UK, our last update time online is now out of sync with desktop. Anyone know how to use the "Last Update Time" option in captions but be able to use a function e.g. dateadd(hour,1,LastUpdateTime) so it reflects REAL TIME.
