Andy that is a nice way to look at the data. I think changing the color to train would help make the crossing graph lines easier to read:
I'm going to date myself, but this viz brought back my memory of riding Bart the first day it opened, Sept. 11, 1972! It was like stepping onto a sci-fi film set, everything new and gleaming. I haven't ridden it in years, I wonder how it has held up.
Thanks for the memories,
Wow- you just revealed your age. 1972 is the year I was born! Now I know why you're so wise :-)
Good idea about your use of colour - useful in this case, for sure.
Andy I think the word you were looking for is 'crotchety'!
I agree that the vis is improved nicely by adding color for the trains. I do find the 5 lines represented for each vis a little distracting though when the image renders as a "V". This makes it difficult to follow a specific line and read the associated stops. All-in-all a nice way of looking at the BART schedule though.
Am I understanding you correctly? You are suggesting a dynamically changing template would make this viz more readable/vibrant/compelling? I'm with you on this! But I think we should let Tableau walk a bit before they trot.
