This is a big problem for organizations such as mine. The main reason is that the bulk of our users travel much of the time and need to have standalone copies of many of our workbooks. And so, although we have Server, we also have Tableau Reader as part of our standard desktop image (3000+ laptops). It seems that our users are always discovering things that fail in TR after we upgrade the desktop. It's their #1 complaint about Tableau. Upgrading all of those TR installs requires nearly two months lead time. By then we will have gone through one or two more desktop upgrades. Always chasing our tails.
I definitely appreciate all the upgrades (and out desktop users always want the latest version) but it sure would be helpful to have a list of things that will fail in previous versions of TR when new updates come out.
