Error when using division in a calculated field (live oracle connection)

    Brad Wilkenson

I am running Tableau desktop 7.0 and am performing a live connection to an Oracle datasource (Oracle 10g).  I am creating a very simple calculated field of  [Field Name] / 2.  When I try to add this calculated field to a chart I get the following error:

Oracle database error 3115: ORA-03115: unsupported network datatype or representation

I get the same error if I change my calculated field to Sum([Field Name]) / 2.  If I try to perform any other calculation that does not include division I do not get an error.  i.e. I can do:  [Field Name] + 2 ;  [Field Name] * 2 ;  [Field Name] - 2, without any errors.

Also, I do not get an error if I import the data, its only during a live connection to Oracle.  Also, I do not get an error if I do a live connection to an excel sheet, or if I import data from an excel sheet.

Any thoughts on why I'm getting this error when using division in a calculated field during a live connection to Oracle?

      Thanks,

      Brad
