# Mapping on ZIP Code, but want City name in Tool Tip PROBLEM!

Hey all. I'm hoping this has some kind of calculated field answer, but so far I can't get it to work for me. I have a map where I am plotting by ZIP Code. I have included the City name in the ToolTip so the sales-force can mouse over a ZIP Code and know what City they are looking at. The problem comes from the cases where 2 or more cities exists in the same ZIP. This forces the ZIP to be plotted for each distinct occurrence of a city in the ZIP. Not helpful. What I need is some logic that will group all cities in a ZIP together into a single line of the tooltip, and keep a 1 mark to 1 ZIP relationship on the map.

Any thoughts?

This almost helps. The problem I'm having using your solution is the test used for Unique X and Y cannot be calculated using generated Latitude and Longitude. I'll continue to work on this. It might make more sense to do this in SQL in the data pull where I sum by ZIP Code, and take the City Name with the highest total, and where there are multiple cities with the same sum, take the first in alphabetical order. I'd rather have a Tableau solution though.

Can you test for unique zip instead?

It would really help if you could post a tbwx with the data and expected result - mocked up if the data is sensitive

We developed a work around for this on the data side. We ended up designating a primary City name for each ZIP code. That way, no one ZIP has multiple city names. I think we actually used outside data in order to designate the primary city. Thanks for the suggestions!
