I have a table of order data with the following fields in it:
1) Transaction Number (unique)
2) Customer Name
4) Order Volume
The table has about 13 weeks of data.
I'm trying to generate a scatter plot that shows total volume (over the full 13 wk period) on one axis and weekly variability on the other.
The total volume is straight forward. I can also create a stand alone chart that shows weekly volume, and can add a standard deviation band as a reference line, etc. What I can't do is come up with a way to generate a measure of weekly variation, either through a calculated field or otherwise for use on the second axis.
I could always do the calculation in a new table, outside of tableau, but I'm wondering if there's a way to do it inside tableau.
There are quick table calculations that allow you to look at % change from prior value (or first value), plus any ability to modify these to fit your needs. What would the calculation be that you would want to use?
