We're aware of this limitation, and I'm sorry that it's causing you trouble. We are looking for ways to improve data blending (and related operations like this one) in a future release, and I hope we can address this pain point.
I came across this issue of new data not automatically being grouped into my current groups and found this post from Jessica. Do you have a status on this issue? Its been 1.5 years and was wondering if there is any progress on it.
This is still the case. Current workarounds include:
- Using a mapping table and data blending
- Using a mapping table and a multiple tables connection, custom SQL or a custom query or view. If the mapping table and raw data sources live on different systems, it's possible to create a federated database via linked tables.
After 2 Years, we do still have the same issue?
I'm new to Tableau and based on the doc, I've created several primary groups that works great. But I don't wish to update them manually...
Hope it has been (or will be) solved.
Yes, primary groups are still not automatically updated.
Thank you Jonathan for your reply,
I'm using primary groups since we cannot link 2 secondary sources together. If I want to update those primary groups, how can do it? I did not find any options.
Any update there? How can I update the primary group in the easiest / most efficient manner?
