Hi Ranjan,
This can be done using a bit of a work around. I have attached a sample workbook. Hope this helps!

Ranjan Sahoo Apr 11, 2012 1:08 AM (in response to Tracy Rodgers)Hi Tracy,
Thanks for your reply.I have tried the same earlier, but it is not covering the whole view and also i need 3 different values to same background color.
Apart from that the other requirement is it is only painting only single row of different value.
find the attached. This is a very basic function.
It should like if value = 'x' then color(varaible,)
You can check.
Thanks,
Ranjan

Hi Ranjan,
I have a feeling it might have to do with how the data is set up. Maybe you can post a sample of the data or the sample workbook (twbx file)? Thanks!

Ranjan Sahoo Apr 12, 2012 1:24 AM (in response to Tracy Rodgers)Hi Tracy,
Thanks for your reply.I have attached the file.
For sheet 26, column Businessalignment, for strong, moderate and weak, different background color is required.
for column 34, different color required for group of values.
This will be as per my prevous 2 JPG attachment.

Hi Ranjan,
A way to do this is to use a Highlight table, which is the upper right-most option in the Show Me, then you need to edit the colors on the Color Legend to be the correct colors. You can also create your own Highlight Table, but that is more complicated because the Show Me highlight table uses a method that is not normally available in the interface.
I've used the Show Me for Sheet32, however the Sheet34 you provided doesn't match the screenshot. Hopefully this will be enough to get you started.

7. Re: whether possible to assign different background colour based on data value.
Ranjan Sahoo Apr 19, 2012 7:26 AM (in response to Jonathan Drummey)Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for your reply. I reproduced, i was sticking with size increase for cover and legend recoloring.
But the next one, I believe is little complex which is present in sheet no.26 business alignment and Financial or Technology Management Strength.
As you suggested about highlight table, i have been through it works only in case of measure, I need your suggestion, whether it is possible to convert dimension to measure and place it on the facts and then do recoloring.I have converted measure to dim. and then reconverted to place measure in between dimension. Similar provision is possible for dimension to be converted to measure to achive our objective. As highlight works on single measure, i can do blending to achive my objective. But biggest question is converting dimensiion to measure and then reconvert back without touching the structure.
Please suggest.
Thanks,
Ranjan

Hi Ranjan,
If you need to "highlight on two dimensions", I'm guessing that means you want to determine the color based on the intersection of two dimensions? If so, then you'd need to create either a Set or a calculated field and put that on the view, and depending on whether it was a dimension or not it could affect other calculations.
I'm not sure what you mean by converting a dimension to a measure and back again. You can certainly do this for a pill when it is in the view (on the Rows, Columns, or Filter shelves, or any of the shelves on the Marks card) and that will change the view. Just as important in changing the view can be converting from discrete to/from continuous. Here are a couple of links to posts that talk about the differences:

http://www.thedatastudio.co.uk/blog/the-data-studio-blog/groundwork-for-custom-table-calculations
If you still have any questions, I think I'd need to have more clarity about what your goal is.
Cheers,
Jonathan
