    CBSA Name problems

    Ryan Schilling

I'm thrilled that CBSAs are now included as a filled-map option, but I'm wondering... why aren't some of the names in keeping with the most recent update from the OMB?

For example, the 'Steubenville-Weirton, OH-WV' MSA is listed with its old name 'Weirton-Steubenville, WV-OH'. As another example, the 'North Port-Bradenton-Sarasota, FL' MSA is listed in Tableau as 'Bradenton-Sarasota-Venice, FL'. Did your developers use a dated list?

      The remaining six problem CBSAs:

      Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill, NC-SC

      Chicago-Joliet-Naperville, IL-IN-WI

      Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford, FL

      Phoenix-Mesa-Glendale, AZ

      Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro, OR-WA

      San Antonio-New Braunfels, TX

Additionally, will the 'CBSA Code' be supported in the future?

The most recent list from 2009 is available at several places:
