Why does Tableau prevent modifying Access tables if both programs are open?

I have an Access database open where I have my tables & business process queries stored. Before I started using 7.0, I could have both programs opened with Tableau's data connection set to the Access database and make changes to table records. Now if I have Tableau open & connected to the Access database, I try to make record changes in Access, close the database thinking my changes are set, re-open the database and find my changes weren't saved. So it seems like Tableau is placing a lock on the database preventing any changes to be saved to my database while Tableau is connected to it (even if I'm using an Extract file that is linked to the Access database). Anyone else noticed this with the new version and have you found a solution?

Is this a bug with 7.0 or is this the way it will be moving forward.
