When the extract it is rolled up to year, the extract is finding the each different year--in the case here, there is only one year, 2010. Then, it looks as the unique dimensions associated with that year--i.e. it looks at Item--there is coffee and tea, hence returning 2 as the distinct count of Applicant ID. Since Applicant ID is currently being recognized as a measure and not a dimension, it is not included as a unique value. By dragging Applicant ID to the Dimensions will allow for the data to be extracted as expected.
