If you are trying to add a measure from portfolio comp, then you will need to add a linking field to the worksheet like the error message says. Try adding Bond, then the measures.
You can see the linking fields under the relationships menu for the data source.
It is my guess that what you want is to join these two data sources on "ISIN", and then sum the measures to dimension values from both/either data source.
There are a number of options to accomplish this in Tableau, each with their own advantages, and different approaches, where some are a better fit than others depending on what you are comfortable with, your data structure, and what interaction you want to allow for.
The two main routes are
- Join at connection, either before Tableau in ETL, or at connection with Multiple Tables or Custom SQL. This will cause data to be duplicated that will need to be handled for
- Use a data blend at low level, and then use an aggregate of an aggregate to display the values.
These two options map to:
- aggregate after join
- aggregate before join, and then aggregate again
A data blend will aggregate each data source before the join, and then you can use table calculations to aggregate again to get the numbers you are looking for.
I have provided some details at:
see the attached for an example with your data.

I am also facing a problem while blending data from 2 data sources.I see NULLs and asterisks for few dimensions.
SiteName(D) Date(D) Sales(M)
TestSite1 2011-08-01 200
TestSite1 2011-08-02 180
TestSite1 2011-08-03 190
TestSite2 2011-08-01 220
TestSite2 2011-08-02 170
TestSite2 2011-08-03 210
TestSite3 2011-08-01 160
TestSite3 2011-08-02 140
TestSite3 2011-08-03 150
I have created a filter on CustomerName.
I have used SiteName,Date and Sales on rows shelf.I see asterisks for Date.
Please advice how to overcome this problem.
I think you are looking for a Join instead of a Data Blend, see:
for more details.
Or you may need to provide a data set that is more representative of your situation.
Thanks a lot for your help Joe. Your solution was very helpful.
