Huh. I didn't know we supported this at all.
You probably hit this: it's "--noconfig", not "-no-config".
Thanks for the quick response.
When I try "--noconfig" it errors out saying that is not a valid option.
Both the white paper and the tabadmin restore -h indicate "--no-config" and it does run, the problem is that it is restoring the service config as well as the data restore. I just need to uncover the proper setting to just run the data restore.
Please help! :)
That is the command I used initially. I did try it again just for good measure. It is still backing up the config in addition to the server data and locking me out because it is trying to restore local users in the newly established Active Directory connection... Please advise.
From Tableau Support case: This resolved the issue. After converting to AD and loading the backup I then reset the server state with "tabadmin reset" and was able to log back into the server management page on the server machine and specify a new administrator. -Chris
I followed these instructions and was happy with the results as well. In my case I had no "guest" -type user accounts I could assign from Active Directory so I needed to start over and chose Local Authentication....and manage the accounts myself.
Thanks for this thread.
