How to write a Community Idea that Tableau Devs & Program Managers will look at
Tableau Developers and Program Managers are always looking at the Ideas section of the Community for inspiration and a look into the type of features that people who use Tableau are looking for.
It's a great way to see all the different use cases, scenarios and problems that Tableau users run into. In order to provide them with an idea that they can act on and make the most sense of, there are a couple of different questions to answer each time an idea is created.
Here are a couple of questions that are always good to include...
✏️ What is your idea?
Example: Provide data-driven alerts on Tableau Server.
💬 What problem are you trying to solve or what scenario would this idea solve?
Example:
I know if an extract refresh fails without having to sign in
I know about low disk spaces without checking
We reduce time between an event and our ability to take action
Tableau users don't waste time constantly checking vizzes to see if something happened
♻️ What workaround have you found and used so far (if any)?
Example: I've created a script that sends me email alerts.
👤 What is your role in your organization?
Example: I'm a Server Admin.
The more information that is provided in an idea💡, the more the Dev Team has to work off of and hopefully deliver!
Hello, I am planning for Tableau Certified Consultant Exam (TCC-C01). As per the new update is there still hands on questions in the exam? As they reduced the passing % from 75% to 63%. I am confused that whether I could expect the hands-on questions or not? Anyone could confirm this?
Help me build a graph exactly like this. I am not able to get the red vertical range bar (which shows min and max) with 2 other metrics (state average and facility average)
Hello, friends--hoping someone can answer an exam registration question. I'm a Tableau Online account owner, but the affiliation field will not accept my company name. Advice? I've made no progress finding an answer through site or my sales rep
How to capture the snapshot of data from a live data source?
Hi,
Can someone please help in sharing or creating a tableau workbook which shows the snapshot of historic data from a live data source as per the attachment? The data source I'm using only shows the current (today's) data but I would like to capture the data from last week/month data too.
I have a request to create donut charts where only the % of total for each category is what is colored in on the chart, similar to what is below. I have managed to get the charts on the same sheet, also below, but no matter what I attempt I cannot get the colors to work correctly. I want the % of the circle which is colored in to correspond to the label in the middle of the chart. I have also included some sample data that can be used to try to create this.
I have a map colored by amount of energy usage, and a drop-down parameter that lets users swap between electric and gas usage. The issue is that I need to color by the numeric amount of the usage, but I also want the range of colors to change depending on which parameter is selected. For example, if users select Electricity, buildings with more electricity usage should be a darker blue, and buildings with less electricity usage should be a lighter blue. But if the user selects Gas, the buildings with more gas usage should be a darker orange, say, and the buildings with less gas usage should be a lighter orange. How do I color by both the parameter determining type of energy and the amount of energy used?
Error “Cannot blend the secondary data source because one or more fields use an unsupported aggregation.”
I have 3 sources as .csv files- I use them as extract in Tableau Desktop.

I am joining Source 1 and Source2 on date and multiplying Savings with GBp to USD to get rates for each month. I am using AGG(Savings) function on Dashboard.
Now , I want to provide user access filter based on Manager so i want to use another source -
Manager Segment
M1 S1
M1 S2
M2 S1
M3 S1
M3 S2
M3 S3
M4 S2
M5 S3
I am joining Source1 and Source3 on Segment and creating a user access filter where username() = Manager, All the functions are working fine except the AGG(Savings) which is giving me above error. Is there a way i can resolve this? Thank you.
