Published data source permissions View vs. Connect - how can you allow users to view / connect so they can view and subscribe to a dashboard but still prevent them from connecting to the data source to create their own analysis?
We have a data source published to our on-prem Tableau Server version 2023.3.12 with embedded credentials. There is a dashboard connected this data source showing sales revenue that includes a user filter so sales users can only see their own data. Sales users are subscribed to the view, so they receive an email once per week.
The sales users are set up with a site role of Explorer on the server, and because they have 'Connect' permissions on the data source, they are now able to navigate to the data source and select 'New Workbook' to create their own analysis with no user filter applied. We could change the site role to 'Viewer' but this would limit their abilities in other areas.
Is there a way that we can provide sales users access to a summarized dashboard that they can subscribe to showing their sales data, but at the same time prevent them from having access to the data source where they can look up data for other users? I think I'm confused why 'Connect' is required for the subscription when it's only sending an image of the dashboard they have access to.
Is it possible to view underlying data in the calculated field without action filters. Looks simple but a complex problem.
Hi All, I am trying to display the name of customers when I click on the number 4(generated from the calculated field) without adding additional filters on the filter card, looks simple but its bit complex problem. attached is the twbx.
I have a question about Tomcat and its vulnerability. Something like that: https://www.tenable.com/plugins/was/114548 https://www.tenable.com/plugins/nessus/213077
I use the Tableau Server version 20214.23.0911.0839.
I don't see in changelog if it was fixed in the new version?
I don't understand how to check the current Tomcat version. And I see that I can't upgrade Tomcat only, I have to upgrade the Tableau Server, but I don't understand which Tomcat version in the new Tableau Server. Could you please explain.
Filter Actions Not Working Properly on Tableau Server
I am using filter actions in Tableau to navigate from a stacked bar chart to a second bar chart and then to a third table view. It works perfectly on Tableau Desktop, but not on Server.
Visualisations not displaying when published to Tableau Server
Hi there,
I have built a few visualisations in Tableau desktop and added the sheets to a dashboard (standard fit).
They appear completely fine in Tableau Desktop (first image), but when I publish the dashboard to Tableau Server they completely disappear (second image).
Does anyone know what causes this or how to fix it?
I don't think it's an error with the data, since the data guide is still providing correct information despite the fact the graphs don't appear.
(I added the blue squares just to cover any company logos or information)
