Using Tableau Public Desktop 3.0. New to Tableau. Data source is an Excel File with two sheets. One sheet is a set of 20 coordinate pairs defining the vertexes of a BOUNDARY line (path), and a BLEND KEY column with values of 1. The second sheet contains 180,000 coordinate pairs defining VESSEL POINTS, a BLEND KEY column, plus several columns for names, dates and times for each VESSEL POINT. The goal is to display the BOUNDARY line and the VESSEL POINTS on a single map. Both sets of data show correctly if displayed independently. The Excel workbook is connected and the two sheets of data joined by the BLEND KEY
PROBLEM - After successfully displaying the VESSEL POINTS, any attempt to load the BOUNDARY points turns the view from maps, to a scatter graph. Help please.

Hello,
I would like to request your assistance
regarding the addition of points on a map. I have been asked, in Tableau, to
specify the location of equipment on a building plan by adding points that
contain information related to each piece of equipment.
However, I am facing a problem: I have
many points to place, and I need to manually enter the position (longitude and
latitude) of each point into my data source. I do this somewhat randomly until
I reach the desired position.
I would like to find a solution that
allows me to know the position (longitude and latitude) anywhere on my plan
when I click on a specific location. This way, I could retrieve the coordinates
and assign them to a point in my database.
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks for
your help, community.

I'm trying to make a heatmap of balls/strikes thrown by our pitchers during our youth travel baseball indoor bullpen workouts. Is there a way to shape the heatmap zones in Tableau like the image attached?

I have sample data with latitude and longitude included already. I am trying to find a way to have the map zoom and lock in on a specific window based off a parameter. For example - if Parameter = Person 1 then I want the map to zoom in and focus in between the latitudes of 30.10 and 40.10 and not be able to be zoomed out.
I have tried creating a max and min latitude calculated field:
Max Latitude:
IF [Select Person] = 'Person A' THEN 40.10
END
Min Latitude:
IF [Select Person] = 'Person A' THEN 30.1
END
and then creating a calculated field to focus on this window:
Desired Latitude Window:
IF [Latitude] > [Min Latitude] AND [Latitude] < [Max Latitude] THEN [Latitude]
ELSE NULL
END
and then dragging this to the rows shelf as my new "Latitude" but it is not working. Does anybody have any ideas to be able to achieve something like this?

Hi,
I just updated to 2024.3.3 this morning. When I go to update the data in the workbook, I receive the following error message: Errors occurred while reloading the data source.
Errors for 'US Map of Work Sites':
Error parsing filter for field 'Exclusions (Company Country,Company State)', ignoring filter.
Errors for 'US Map of Work Sites CCSE':
Error parsing filter for field 'Exclusions (Company Country,Company State)', ignoring filter.
And none of my maps work. I've tried opening my local workbook and from my published site on Tableau public, same issue from both places. Everything is assigned the correct Geographic Role, and I matched everything I could (it's student data, we all know they aren't necessarily great with details) on the Edit Locations prompt. It appears to be showing all of my city data as Null--which isn't correct.
The maps are a basic map showing the number of students working in a particular country, state and city, no calculations other than SUM.
I'll take any ideas at this point as to what might be happening.
Thank you!!!!
