Unable to activate the latest Tableau Server on Ubuntu 22.04 doing a fresh install
I'm doing a server upgrade installing the latest Tableu Server Linux on Ubuntu 22.04 server and can't activate it. I'm getting the following error in logs:
We are having some performance issues with Tableau on SAP HANA. After a lot of digging, we found out that HANA does not like the HAVING (COUNT(1)>0) clause Tableau adds in metrics-only queries. This could be helped by adding <customization name='CAP_QUERY_HAVING_REQUIRES_GROUP_BY' value='yes' /> to the TDC file.
I wonder if there are any other best practices in setting up both the TDC-file, so that Tableau is sender queries that SAP HANA will "like".
I'm looking for an RSS feed (or any other source, frankly) that will reliably post an update/notification whenever a new Tableau version is released. Does such a thing/source exist? I've seen some messages in the forums here, some blog posts on Tableau's site, but nothing that is complete. For example, none of them have a post notifying of the 2024.3.3 release. I did find the release notes navigator but that mentions a version 2025.1 which isn't on the download site yet...and it just mentioned "2024.3" not any dot-releases.
Tableau server will not start after clearing full disk
Our Tableau server ran out of disk space and started giving errors. We tried to run the cleanup command and got the following error -
Starting the cleanup job.
The previous CleanupJob did not succeed after running for 0 minute(s).
The last successful run of CleanupJob took 0 minute(s).
Job id is '101', timeout is 60 minutes.
50% - Deleting old log files.
Cleanup job failed.
This job failed due to unexpected error: 'IllegalArgumentException'
See 'd:\Tableau\Tableau Server\data\tabsvc\logs\tabadmincontroller\tabadmincontroller_*.log' on Tableau Server nodes running the Administration Controller process for server log information.
I've attached the referenced log files here
We ended up manually deleting some unrelated files and cleared up enough space, about 110gb free now. When we go to start the server we get the error we get the error "Start Server Failed The server start operation failed to complete." and no services are running. When we check the status, all services say unavailable.
How do you set up DEV/QA/PROD in a single site in Tableau Cloud. What are the common challenges you face while doing content migration of datasources/workbook in a multi user environment?
We recently upgraded tableau server from 2023.1 to 2023.3 during this upgrade we also installed an self-signed SSL certificate for the first time. However, users have been complaining about having to login twice even when using correct credentials.
When they get the signin screen they first get a blank page with a browser pop up asking them for their credentials, this step always seems to always fail however with the error "sign in failed". It brings them to the 'standard' login screen where they have the ability to enter credentials again or "sign in using your windows credentials" both of these work.
I personally have not experienced this issue, it succeeds after the first pop up. But i have seen other users and admins experience this issue.
we're using local authentication.
Do any of you have any idea what might be the cause of this?
